Preparation for the
interview
I was
in the cities and I found one of my old friends who was studying with me in the ELS language center. He is from Egypt and I told him about my interview for my
English class and he was very happy to help me with it.
How did you approach
people?
I called my old friend to talk about the time and place of the interview.Since
I met Mohammad in the cities he decided to come to St. Cloud to visit the city and also discuss the question I had for him.
Where was the interview?
Mohammad came to St. Cloud with other friends to my house and that is where we did the interview. The interview was on
Saturday at my place. I had to ask him these questions:
Whom did you interview?
The person I interviewed is Mohammed. He is from Egypt and he is 26 years old. He is a student at
St. Thomas University studying Electric Engineering . He has been in this area for about about two years. He is planing to stay around for a while after he completes his major.
Country Report
Egypt is located in Northern Africa, bordering the Mediterranean Sea, between Libya and
the Gaza Strip, and the Red Sea north of Sudan, and includes the Asian Sinai Peninsula.
Egypt is the most populous country in the Arab world and the second-most populous on the
African Continent. Nearly all of the country’s 79 million people live in Cairo and Alexandria;
elsewhere on the banks of the Nile; in the Nile delta, which fans out north of Cairo; and
along the Suez Canal. These regions are among the world’s most densely populated, containing
an average of over 3,820 persons per square mile (1,540 per sq km), as compared
to 181 persons per sq mi for the country as a whole.
Egypt borders the Mediterranean Sea to the north, the Gaza Strip and Israel to the northeast,
the Red Sea to the east, Sudan to the south, and Libya to the west.
The great majority of its estimated 82 million live near the banks of the Nile River, in an
area of about 40,000 sq km (15,000 sq m), where the only arable agricultural land is found.
The large areas of the Sahara Desert are sparsely inhabited. About half of Egypt’s residents
live in urban areas, with the majority spread across the densely populated centres of greater
Cairo, Alexandria, and other major cities in the Nile Delta.
Egypt is famous for its ancient civilisation and some of the world’s most famous monuments,
including the Giza pyramid complex and its Great Sphinx. The southern city of Luxor contains
numerous ancient artefacts, such as the Karnak Temple and the Valley of the Kings.
Egypt is widely regarded as an important political and cultural nation of the Middle East.
Egypt, sometimes referred to as the ‘Motherland of the World’ and the ‘Land of Civilisations,’
is famous throughout the world for its ancient civilisation and 7,000-year history along
the Nile River. It is an important political and cultural centre of the Middle East.

My name is Mohammed Subhi.
Me:
Where are you from?
Mohammed:
I am from Egypt.
Me: Which city did you born in Egypt?
Mohammed:
I was born in Cairo city, which is the capital city.
Me:
Why did you choose to study at St. Thomas University?
Mohammed:
I choose St. Thomas University because it is a good school for business.
Me: oh

Me:
What are you studying?
Mohammed:
Electrical Engineering.
Me: Wow! thats a nice major.
Me:
What are you planning to do after school?
Mohammed:
I have not deicide yet but I might to work here in the Undated States for one or couple years after.
Me: That’s a good plan and good luck.
Me:
What is the difference in educational system between your country and United
States?
Mohammed: The differences between them is that America has more technology.
Me:
yes I agree with you that here in America are more about technology.
Me:
why did you choose United States for your education?
Mohammed:
I had a lot of my relative were graduated from here and I got a scholarship from
the University.
Me: That sounds good. Its a great way to finish up with your goals.
me: How were your language skills since you arrived United States of America.
Mohammed: It was very weak but, by the time I had to learn a lot about the languages and the cultures.
Me: How long did it take you to learn English?
Mohammed: It took me about a year to learn English, I lived with my American family who was very helpful with the language skills and everything else.
Me: The same thing also happened to me when I first moved to the United States. I didn't speak much English.
Me: Is there anything you
would like to add before we end our interview?
Mohammed:
No. I do not have anything else to add.
Me: Do
you have any questions for me, now that I have had the oppertunity of asking you
about many things?
Mohammed:
No, I have no further question.
Me: Thank
